Who is Lewis Bass...
Mr. Bass is a registered professional safety engineer. Mr. Bass has been an expert witness in a wide variety of cases involving slip and falls, construction machinery and workplace safety, warnings, product safety, sport safety, equipment safety and human factors. He has testified regarding risk assessment and the feasibility of alternative design and procedures to reduce accidents and injuries. Mr. Bass has taught graduate courses in Safety Science for the University of Southern California Institute of Safety and Systems Management teaching courses in Process Safety Management System Safety Engineering Techniques, Safety Management, Failure Analysis, and Safety Law. He has also taught hazard analysis and liability prevention for the University of Wisconsin - Madison and UCLA. Mr. Bass is an active member of safety standards development activities. He was the task group leader for the mechanical section of the revised SEMI S2 (Guidelines for Semiconductor Equipment Safety). He was a co-author of SEMI S8 (Ergonomic Guidelines for Semiconductor Process Equipment). Mr. Bass is the author of "Products Liability: Design and Manufacturing Defects 2nd Edition", published by The West Group. He is editor o “Managing for Product Liability Avoidance” by Wolters Kluwer. He has published numerous papers and is a frequent speaker on safety law and product liability at professional seminars and conferences.
